Tai Chi Ranking for Levels 1 to 5

November  3, 2012

Ranking exams for levels 1 - 5 will be held at the Tai Chi Center November  3, 2012.

What is Ranking?

The ranking system was developed specifically to improve the health and well being of practitioners, promote the development of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, raise the level of skill and theory within Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, and establish a standardized training system.

Why Rank?

Ranking gives one the opportunity to advance his or her Tai Chi practice and to bring out the best of us in a way that is challenging, pleasant and fun.

What is Involved?

The ranking exam consists of both a written portion on Tai Chi theory as well as a practical portion in which you will perform the 103 form before a panel of judges.

Don’t Worry, We’ll Help.

If you choose to rank, you will not be on your own.  Through a special ranking class held every other week beginning in the late summer, we will do our very best to prepare you with everything you will need to succeed in the ranking event.

What Do You Need To Rank?

First and foremost, you need a strong desire to improve your Tai Chi and be the best you can be.  In addition, in order to rank for levels 1 and 2 you will need to have finished learning the long form by May 1, 2012, a recommendation from your teacher, a completed application form (due at the latest by October 3, 2012) and pay a small fee.  If you intend to rank for level 3,4 & 5 in addition to the level 1 and 2 requirements, you will need to have completed appropriate weapon(s) form(s) by May 1, 2012.

What Do You Get?

A strong sense of satisfaction that you have worked hard to improve your Tai Chi knowledge, both theoretical and practical.
